Big Data and Artificial Intelligence hardly leave any business fields untouched. This means radically rethinking one’s own business models, taking into account the research results of the future. At the Know-Center Summer Academy, our experts will show you which technologies will conquer the markets and open up new potentials of your business in the upcoming years.
The Spansih Big Data and AI Inter-platform initiative, promoted and coordinated by PLANETIC (Spanish technological platform on the ICT sector), has generated a whitepaper to describe the current state of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence in the Spanish scenario, with the aim to identify strengths and areas for improvement.
This whitepaper describes the Spanish positioning in AI regarding the European strategy, presenting the national and regional strategies that have been developed, an analysis of supply and demand for AI and Big data technologies for each of the sectors represented in the inter-platform initiative, and a review of the current poles of innovation in AI and Big Data, a sector analysis for their applications, opportunities, evolution and growth for Water, Tourism, Health and Manufacturing sectors.
BDVA's Smart Manufacturing Industry group proudly announces the publication of the second version of the Big Data Challenges in Manufacturing Industry (SMI) Whitepaper.
This paper includes an updated and deeper market and trend analysis, an assessment of future trends and scenarios for Smart Factories, Smart Product Lifecycles and Smart Supply Chain, a suggestion for a research and innovation agenda on SMI and an analysis of non-technical challenges (i.e. standardisation, skills and regulatory challenges). Finally, the document also identifies some key highly innovative trends and provides some recommendations for the future.

The AI, Data and Robotics Partnership is one of the candidates for European Partnerships in digital, industry and space in Horizon Europe. It will build on the work of BDVA and euRobotics cPPPs (Big Data Value PPP and SPARC PPP) and on the investment in the broader European AI community (EurAI, CLAIRE and ELLIS). The Strategic Research, Innovation and Deployment Agenda (SRIDA) defines the vision, overall goals, main technical and non-technical priorities, investment areas and a research, innovation and deployment roadmap for this Partnership. A third version of this document needs to be adopted after summer (consult the second version here).
During the month of July two separate information sessions will be organised on the 16th (register here) and the 29th (register here). Their purpose is to inform and engage a wider community on the SRIDA update.
On June 24th, BDVA organised, in collaboration with the European Commission DG-CNECT, a workshop on the Role of Data Innovation Spaces and Data Driven Innovation Hubs in the European digital transformation.
The objective of this workshop was to discuss about the role of Data Innovation Spaces in the European landscape, and identify their alignment with present and future instruments. The discussion explored the triple dimension of Data Innovation Spaces as instruments to bring data driven innovation to the regional ecosystems, to mobilize and capitalize data and to provide testing and experimentation environments. To this end, the workshop's panel included relevant representatives from the European Commission and European initiatives and projects.

On 14 May, BDVA, the European Committee of Standardization (CEN) and the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to advance their mutual cooperation in the strategic field of Big Data Value and AI standardization.
As BDVA’s President, Thomas Hahn, highlighted “the upcoming AI, Data and Robotics partnership will bring research and innovation activities closer to deployment and user uptake, therefore collaboration with CEN-CENELEC will become even more critical to drive the needed international standardisation. BDVA looks forward to working closely with CEN-CENELEC for the development of a strategic dialogue in this domain.”
On June 24th, the BDVA Task Force 1 - Sub Group 4 (i-Spaces) organises, in collaboration with the European Commission DG-CNECT, a workshop on the Role of Data Innovation Spaces and Data Driven Innovation Hubs in the European digital transformation.
During this workshop, the panellists will discuss in particular about the role that Data Innovation Spaces (i-Spaces) will play in the new European landscape combining three different dimensions (DIHs and networks, European Common Data Spaces and Testing and Experimentation Facilities). The discussion will also focus on how EUHubs4Data project could act as a link between H2020 and the new Framework Programme in terms of data driven innovation.
