Second Edition of the Best Big Data Value Success Stories (BSS Award)

The winners of the second edition of the Best Big Data Value Success Stories (BSS 2020) were officially announced on the last day of the European Big Data Value Forum 2020 (EBDVF 2020).

The winners of the contest were: 1) Data Pitch for the project/large company category; 2) Orbem for the SME category; and 3) Ubiwhere for the best video category.

Highlights from EBDVF 2020!

The 2020 edition of the European Big Data Value Forum (EBDVF2020) will go down in the history as exceptional for many reasons.

Beside being the first EBDVF edition organised entirely online, it obtained impressive numbers in terms of participants, sponsors and speakers.

Release of the second version of the BDVA position paper "Towards a European-governed Data Sharing Space"

The second version of the BDVA position paper "Towards a European-governed Data Sharing Space - Enabling data exchange and unlocking AI potential" has been officially released today. It will be presented officially during the European Big Data Value Forum 2020 and particularly during Focus Track 1: European Data Spaces - Main session and more detail during the parallel session on The good, the bad and the ugly: the reality of shaping data sharing policies and strategies. Find the full paper here

This new release of the position paper focuses on revisiting the opportunities and challenges which were identified in the first release and adding a concrete call for actions aimed at specific stakeholder who have a pivotal role to play in the realisation of a European Data Space. 

Release of the BDVA Whitepaper on AI in Healthcare

The BDVA Task Force 7 - Sub-group on Healthcare is proud to release the first BDVA Whitepaper on AI in Healthcare. This publication aims to feed policy makers with the information that is needed for realising the full potential of AI in healthcare.

The document will be officially presented during the European Big Data Value Forum 2020 and particularly during the parallel session on AI in Healthcare which takes place on the 4th of November 2020.

Release of the Strategic Research Innovation and Deployment Agenda for the AI, Data and Robotics Partnership

Today, BDVA, CLAIRE, ELLIS, EurAI and euRobotics are pleased to announce the official release of the Joint Strategic Research Innovation and Deployment Agenda (SRIDA) for the AI, Data and Robotics Partnership, which is available here.

Building on the previous release (SRIDA Second Consultation Release, September 2019 [3]), the joint SRIDA contains numerous updates and notably three specific “Deep Dive” sections for Artificial Intelligence, Data and Robotics research, as well as an updated list of innovation challenges that Europe needs to tackle soon . It also provides more details on the Investment Areas (IA) and on the possibilities for collaboration with other partnerships, initiatives and communities under Horizon Europe. Furthermore, indicates new business opportunities. This SRIDA will guide the AI, Data and Robotics Partnership activities from January 2021 onwards and will ensure that this initiative achieves its vision “to boost European competitiveness, societal wellbeing and environmental aspects to lead the world in researching, developing and deploying value-driven trustworthy AI, Data and Robotics based on fundamental European rights, principles and values”.

The joint release of the SRIDA will be presented publicly during the Research and Innovation Days 2020 (22-24th of September).

Release of the European Commission Data Governance Act

On the 25th of November, the European Commission officially released its Proposal for a Regulation on European Data Governance (so-called Data Governance Act). The proposal is the first of a set of measures announced in the 2020 European strategy for data and aims at fostering the availability of data for use by increasing trust in data intermediaries and by strengthening data-sharing mechanisms across the EU.
