Neelie Kroes on the need for a European Public Partner Partnership on Big Data Value
Big Data as a growth opportunity for the European economy and society was emphasized in a speech of Ms. Neelie Kroes, Commissioner for the Digital Agenda given in November 2013 during the ICT conference in Vilnius. In her speech, she stressed that policy makers should support this process in several ways and called for a European Public Partner Partnership.
Ms. Kroes highlighted that Big Data is becoming the fuel for the European economy, powering and energizing many important sectors and emphasized that the European Public Partner Partnership would gather the relevant players (researchers, software makers, venture capitalists etc.) to foster new research and innovation, support society and to generate jobs. Boosting Europe´s competitiveness Big Data could help to strengthen Europe’s position as a global player.
