Big Data in China: insights and lessons

Thomas Hahn, Vice President of BDVA, has participated last January 31st 2018 in a round table organized in Brussels by ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales), about the impact of Big Data in the China economy, the challenges in realising value from Big Data, and opportunities around that, and during which the ICAEW report Big Data in Chinese Businesses was presented (https://www.icaew.com/-/media/corporate/files/technical/information-tech...).

BDVA and PPP projects participated in the RDA EU Data Innovation Forum

Representatives from the BDVA and AEGIS, BigDataOcean, DataBio, MyHealthMyData and Special PPP Projects participated in the Research Data Alliance (RDA) EU Data Innovation Forum, held in Brussels on the 30th of January 2018 and shared their results and examples of challenges to be met, in the overall context of the European Data Economy and data-driven innovation in Europe, and mapped to ongoing activities or future challenges to be addressed by the RDA.

4th-7th June 2017, Global IoT Summit (GIoTS-2018): Call for papers!

Organised by Mandat International, IEEE IoT TsC, the IoT Forum and IPv6 Forum (collocated with the IoT Week), The Global IT Summit’18 will take place from the 4th to 7th June in Bilbao, Spain.

The 2018 Global IoT Summit (GIoTS) seeks contributions on how to nurture and cultivate IoT technologies and applications for the benefit of society. 

The Organising Committee launched a call for papers concerning paper submissions and publications, special session and workshop proposal submissions and industry forum panel session submissions.

Public consultations for the post-2020 Multiannual Financial Framework

In the context of evaluations of existing EU financial programmes and the future proposal of the next long-term budget for the EU covering several policy areas, the European Commission has launched public consultations on EU funds in the area of investment, research & innovation, SMEs and Single Market. Such consultations follow the objective to collect the views of all interested parties on how to make the most of every euro of the EU budget and make comprehensive proposals for the next generation of financial programmes for the post-2020 Multiannual Financial Framework in May.

EU Citizens are invited to give feedbacks on how the current EU policies and programmes support innovation and investments in strategic digital infrastructures, and how work could further be improved in terms of performance, simplification or opportunities for synergies between funds.

BDVA Activity Group Meeting, Brussels, 31st Jan - 1st Feb.

On the 1st of February, BDVA Members will meet in Brussels for the 24th Activity Group Meeting. Some Task Forces/Subgroups sessions will take place on January 31st in the afternoon. 

All BDVA Members are invited to join the discussion and presenting their expression of interest in pitching.

Join the BDE SC4 final hangout: 'The Way Forward for Big Data in Transport' – Webinar, 2nd February 2018

The BigDataEurope (BDE) project came to a close at the end of 2017 with a number of technical results to show after three years of development and pilot testing. A key outcome of the project was the Big Data Integrator Platform(BDI), which provides an integrated stack of tools that allow large-scale data resources to be processed, analysed and published without the need for native installations of additional tools for data processing at scale.
During the course of the project, BDE’s Thessaloniki-based transport pilot, which represents the EU’s fourth societal challenge (SC4), carried out important development and testing of the BDI Platform.
