Get ready for Data Week & Data Summit Luxembourg❗

After a successful inaugural edition, the Data Summit Luxembourg continues with a second edition in partnership with Data Week. The two events take stage on the 10 and 11 December 2024 in Kirchberg, Luxembourg. Go through the press release (EN and FR) below.

The Data Summit Luxembourg is the leading event to showcase the value creation potential of public sector data. Hosted by the Luxembourg National Data Service (LNDS), this event brings together local and international participants from academia, government, and industry to foster collaboration and advance data sharing and analysis. By making data more accessible and discoverable – in a trustable way, with the human in control – it is possible to unlock the potential of data to pave the way for innovation and improved policymaking.

New to this edition is the clear shift of focus – the partners are in the centre as 10 different organisations take the stage to present impactful data projects, showcasing the possibilities of secondary use of data. The event also features governmental addresses by Minister Stephanie Obertin and Minister Elisabeth Margue addressing the national AI, Data and Quantum strategies.

The CEO of LNDS, Bert Verdonck, explains with anticipation:

We are excited to welcome you to the Data Summit, where we will showcase the essential skills, regulations, processes, and tools for the trustworthy re-use of data. Unlike the chaotic current landscape, we envision a streamlined, user-friendly, and controllable future for data re-use, supported by early-stage examples from our diverse data partners.

The day prior to the Data Summit Luxembourg, Data Week 2024 takes place, enabling international participants to immerse into two days of unlocking value throughout the Data Journey.

Data Week is the gathering of the European Big Data and Data-Driven AI research and innovation community. Hosted by the Big Data Value Association (BDVA) in collaboration with LIST, Netcompany-Intrasoft SA and Luxembourg National Data Service (LNDS), Data Week invites participants to share knowledge and results, find synergies, build new collaborations and identify new challenges and recommendations in the realm of .

Creating value from data also requires viewing it from an ecosystem perspective and fostering collaboration among multiple stakeholders, which lays the groundwork needed for research excellence, that is required to be rapidly put into action for competitiveness and societal benefit. The Data Week will touch on the fundamental elements of data value creation, as AI serves as a pivotal tool in unlocking data value through various means.
