GenAI4EU Nexus: A one-stop shop for the European GenAI ecosystem
As part of the GenAI4EU Nexus project, BDVA contributes to a recently launched Horizon Europe Coordination and Support Action, mapping and engaging the European GenAI ecosystem across sectors.
On 27 May, the GenAI4EU Nexus consortium met online to kick off a new 3-year project, focussed on creating a European Hub for Trustworthy Generative AI.
Led by Adra, it brings together partners (full and associated), jointly providing the holistic approach uniting industry, academia, research organisations and community builders, working on a shared vision for AI in Europe.
BDVA, benefiting from an already strong community, will support the project in particular with links to local and regional, public and private initiatives, facilitating cross-border and cross-sector collaboration and exchange. Through this project, BDVA will play a key role in building and growing this central hub, while also being able to gather new access points for interaction and collaboration.
The hub is defined as an entry “nexus”, connecting research, industry, SME and the public sector within one GenAI ecosystem.
The initiative does not start from scratch, but maps what is already there, bringing in existing EU instruments, such as AI factories, the AI-on-Demand platform, Data Space initiatives, testing and experimentation facilities (TEF) and European digital innovation hubs (EDIH), through a community-driven observatory.
Together with the rest of the partners (Adra, DFKI, Bosch, CAIRNE, EIT DIGITAL, ETH Zürich, IDC, Linköping University, TNO, University of Copenhagen, University of Zaragoza and Alliance for Language Technologies – ALT-EDIC), we will provide a pan-European point of reference for “AI made in Europe”, along with practical, reusable toolkits and roadmaps, providing the evidence needed to guide investment and regulation.
This community-owned hub will not only accelerate responsible GenAI adoption but also foster EU autonomy and competitiveness, offering SMEs a low threshold access to HPC, AI and QSC.
