Deadline: 10 April 2026

The AISWGs will play a central role in developing the Strategic Research & Innovation Agenda (SRIA). Through a combination of co-creation workshops, online consultations and iterative review processes, participants will provide structured input to identify and prioritise both disciplinary and cross-domain research and innovation needs in AI for Science. Contributions from the expert community will ensure that the SRIA reflects the priorities of scientific stakeholders and supports a coherent, forward-looking approach to AI-driven research across Europe.

By participating in the AISWGs, experts will have the opportunity to directly influence the future of AI in Science in Europe. Their involvement will contribute to building a coordinated, sustainable and community-driven foundation for the Resource for AI Science in Europe (RAISE) initiative. The project highlights that engagement in the working groups offers a unique platform to shape strategic priorities, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and strengthen Europe’s AI in Science ecosystem for maximum scientific impact.

Third-party nominations

SCIANCE also welcomes third-party nominations for one or more working groups. Nominations should be submitted via email to info[at]sciance[dot]eu and must include:

  • Name of the nominee
  • Their role and organisation/institution/company
  • Contact details
  • A brief justification for the nomination

Selection process and criteria

Applications will be reviewed by the SCIANCE evaluation panel, with the process expected to conclude by mid-May 2026. Selection will be based on the following criteria:

  • Expertise: Relevant knowledge in domains aligned with the AISWG scope, as well as complementarity with existing group expertise
  • Contribution: Availability to participate in in-person workshops, working group meetings, asynchronous contributions and SRIA reviews
  • Diversity: Balanced representation across disciplines, EU Member States and Associated Countries, career stages and gender
  • Coverage: Inclusion of a wide range of stakeholders, including academia, industry, research infrastructures, civil society and public bodies

Expected commitment

Selected experts will contribute on a voluntary basis. Participation will involve online meetings, at least one in-person workshop, and additional feedback activities as required.

The SCIANCE project emphasises that broad and active participation will be key to ensuring that Europe’s AI in Science strategy is both inclusive and impactful.

Express your interest before 10 April!
