The BDVA i-Space label is used in Europe to assess the quality of data experimentation and innovation hubs. To ensure the quality of the European Data Innovation Spaces and connect existing initiatives under one umbrella, BDVA set up the BDVA i-Space label. On a yearly basis, candidates from all over Europe are invited to apply for this label. A set of criteria are tested by way of a survey to collect the relevant information. A committee appointed by the BDVA Board of Directors (BoD) carefully examines individual candidates and recommends the appropriate quality ranking (starter, bronze, silver, gold and platinum) to the BoD, which ultimately grants the label.

The qualifying BDVA i-Spaces gain exposure, access to expertise and experience, cooperation possibilities, and invitations to events and additional activities by connecting to the larger European ecosystem. Being a BDVA i-Space enhances the hubs’ service offerings and allows them to provide value to their local SME business environment.

Apply for the BDVA i-Space label here!

Hubs applying for the i-Space designation are subjected to a comprehensive evaluation. Through this process, BDVA assesses the hubs’ infrastructure, services, projects, applications, impact and business strategy. The recognised hubs are evaluated and given a score between 0 and 5, classified into five categories: starter, bronze, silver, gold and platinum.

The application process is open also for BDVA non-members. Find out more about the newly-opened BDVA call for i-Space labels HERE.

The 2024 open call is 9th of the i-Spaces and we have gathered 29 recognised hubs (as of 2023). Learn more about the history of i-Spaces here.

The label is a well-recognised brand, offers a quality reference and provides visibility to national initiatives on Big Data and Artificial Intelligence.
