BDVA answer to the Public Consultation Simplification – Digital Package and Omnibus

BDVA just released a new response paper, welcoming the European Commission’s efforts to reduce administrative barriers regarding AI innovation. The association encourages measures that can provide meaningful support—particularly for SMEs and start-ups—in the development of their products and services, thereby contributing to the strengthening of the European economy and value creation within the internal market.

The Digital Omnibus on AI introduces a range of solutions which, while diverse in nature, collectively offer rapid improvements to the European innovation ecosystem. At the same time, it preserves the EU’s coherent, value-based approach, including the safeguarding and respect of fundamental rights as enshrined, among others, in the European Convention on Human Rights and the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union. In the age of AI, the protection of individuals’ fundamental rights is more important than ever.

BDVA has therefore addressed several topics covered in the proposal and aims to inform the European Commission of the association’s views, while also putting forward recommendations on potential adjustments to the current regulatory proposal. Download the paper at the link above.
