It's a wrap for #DataWeek23!

Data Week 2023 has come to an end! Our 200+ participants enjoyed the sessions, panels and talks on the theme “Data Meets Infrastructure at the Edge“. Check the Data Week website to learn more about our programme.

The first day of the event started with an opening ceremony moderated by Jeanette Nilsson (AI Ecosystem Driver at RISE Research Institutes of Sweden), with welcome notes given by Erik Slottner (Minister for Public Administration, Sweden), Carina Sammeli (Mayor of Luleå), Charlotte Karlsson (Senior Vice President Digital System, RISE), Thomas Hahn (BDVA President) and Daniel Sáez Domingo (Strategic Intelligence & Technology Transfer Director, ITI/EUH4D)

The inspirational speeches of Anne Graf (VP Infrastructure Services, H2 Green Steel), Kimmo Rossi (Head of Sector, DG CNECT, European Commission), Daniel Opalka (Head of R&I, European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking), Marcus Liwicki (Professor, Luleå University) and Harald Schöning (Vice President, Research, Software AG) were followed by a virtual connection to Fiware Summit 2023 taking place in Vienna, Austria, focused on the Data Spaces topic. BDVA's President Thomas Hahn and BDVA's Secretary General Ana Garcia Robles contributed to the panel discussion.

Data Week 2023 programme continued with the 34 sessions and 150 speakers tackling all the topics of the main 11 tracks this year's event was focusing on:

  • Data Spaces
  • Extreme data analytics
  • HPC and the connection to industry transformation green and digital
  • Energy and Green Deal

  • Data-Driven Innovation and experimentation (EUHubs4Data)
  • Metaverse

Both the first and second event day offered to our 215 attendees opportunities for discussions, presentations, and workshops, while also networking during breaks and social events and some non-official, rather surprising activities.

Third event day offered the attendees the opportunity to visit two local testbeds: ICE Datacenter, Infrastructure and Cloud Research & Test Environment - a testbed forndigitalisation and IT infrastructure at RISE and Testbed for 5 G at the LTU (Luleå University of Technology).

Thank you to the town of Luleå  for hosting us with our partners: EUHubs4Data & RISE.
