Horizon Europe main work programme 2021-2022 adopted - €4 billion support for digital technologies

Today, 16th of June, the European Commission has adopted the main work programme of Horizon Europe for 2021-2022. The programme directs €4 billion to boost the area of digitalisation. The support aims to maximise the potential of digital tools and data-enabled research and innovation in a variety of fields, including healthcare, media, cultural heritage and creative economy, energy, mobility and food production.

The total sum the Commission allocates through the package to research and innovation is €14.7 billion. The goal of the work programme is to accelerate the green transition and climate neutrality, support digital leadership and help the EU countries to bounce back from coronavirus pandemic. 

The first calls for proposals will open on the Commission's Funding and Tenders Portal on 22 June. The EC holds Horizon Europe Information Days for the potential applicants between June 28th and July 9th. For wider discussion about Horizon Europe, the European Research and Innovation Days take place on June 23rd and 24th.
