SEMIC 2026
SEMIC 2026, Europe’s leading conference on semantic interoperability and digital government, is heading to Dublin, Ireland.
Organised by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Digital Services (DG DIGIT) with the support of the Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, SEMIC 2026 will take place on 30 November 2026 under the theme “Interoperable Europe driving competitiveness”.
As Europe looks ahead to the next Multiannual Financial Framework and places competitiveness at the centre of its digital agenda, SEMIC 2026 will explore how shared digital public infrastructure, reusable solutions and interoperable data can help public administrations deliver better services for citizens and businesses.
One day, more hands-on than ever
SEMIC 2026 will bring strategic discussions and hands-on exchanges together in one focused conference day.
In previous editions, the practical and technical workshops took place on a separate pre-conference day. This year, they will be integrated directly into the main conference programme. Participants will therefore have the opportunity to take part in high-level discussions as well as practical workshop sessions on the same day.
As always, SEMIC 2026 will bring together the voices shaping Europe’s digital public sector: senior EU and national leaders setting the direction for interoperability policy, renowned experts in digital government, data semantics and AI, public administration practitioners turning policy into working services, and innovators from academia, GovTech, open source and the wider Interoperable Europe community. Together, they will explore how interoperability can move from principle to practice, helping Europe build public services that are simpler, faster, reusable and ready to scale across borders.
There is also a fitting sense of continuity in returning to Dublin. SEMIC was previously hosted in the Irish capital in 2013, under the theme “Achieving interoperability through reuse”. More than a decade later, reuse remains central to the conversation, now framed within a broader ambition: making interoperability a driver of Europe’s competitiveness.
Registration will open soon
If you would like to attend SEMIC 2026 in person in Dublin, keep an eye out for the registration announcement and make sure to book your seat before the summer break begins. As in previous years, SEMIC is expected to bring together over 500 participants from across Europe and beyond.
A flagship event for Europe’s digital public sector
SEMIC has become a key meeting point for Europe’s interoperability and digital government community, connecting brilliant people around one shared goal: making digital public services work better across borders.
The 2026 edition will continue this story by focusing on interoperability as a driver of competitiveness: helping Europe build once, reuse multiple times, reduce administrative friction and scale digital public services across borders.
Save the date of 30 November 2026 and become part of this journey. We hope to see you in Dublin!
As the Irish say: slán go fóill!
