Inter-organisational Challenges in Advanced Data Sharing

We are pleased to invite you to the webinar ‘Inter-organisational Challenges in Advanced Data Sharing’ on the 8th of December from 14:30 to 16:00.

The webinar is an interdisciplinary initiative exploring the complex legal, technical, and economic challenges of data sharing under EU data legislation (GDPR, Data Act, AI Act…).

As the European Union increasingly promotes data-driven innovation, both public and private organisations are expected to share data responsibly, securely, and in compliance with EU law. However, applying data protection and governance frameworks in real-life data sharing scenarios remains a complex endeavour, involving legal uncertainty, technical fragmentation, and unclear incentives. Sharing data with third parties—as controllers, processors, or recipients—often raises questions around accountability, legal grounds, contractual safeguards, and the balancing of rights and interests of those involved.

To address these recurring challenges, this Webinar brings together legal, economic, and technical experts to explore how compliance can be made both practical and proportionate in data-sharing environments. Rather than treating compliance as a purely legal requirement, the initiative examines how rules interact with business incentives, technical architectures, and decision-making processes.

In our webinar, we will:

  • present key legal, technical, and economic challenges identified in data sharing practices
  • share early insights from our interdisciplinary research tracks
  • most importantly, gain your insights about the barriers, risks, and needs you encounter in your daily operations involving data sharing

We believe your expertise would be invaluable to this dialogue, and we hope you will join us in co-shaping a future-proof framework for responsible data sharing. For the full agenda, see the attached file.

If you believe colleagues or partner organisations in your network would also benefit from this exchange, we warmly encourage you to share this invitation further, the discussion will be all the richer with diverse perspectives.

Kind regards,

The COMPASS team
