The European Commission announces a call for open data sharing to fight the COVID-19 variants

Today, the 7th of April, the European Commission has announced a new call for projects to foster better data access, sharing and analysis for the research of new virus variants. It aims to speed up the countermeasures for coronavirus and increase readiness for future epidemics.

Titled "FAIR and open data sharing in support to European preparedness for COVID-19 and other infectious diseases" (HORIZON-INFRA-2021-EMERGENCY-01), the emergency call is launched as a part of the mobilisation of a total of €123 million for urgent research. With three other Horizon Europe calls, the call will be open for submissions on the 13th of April, and the deadline is the 6th of May, 2021.
