The EP adopts Horizon Europe, secures record-high funding for digitalisation
On Tuesday 27th of April, MEPs voted to approve the programme, securing €95.5 billion budget for research and innovation until 2027. Horizon Europe incorporates the EU’s highest ever budget allocation for digital-related research and digitalisation. It will also provide support for innovative SMEs, European research infrastructure, and an additional €1 billion secured by the Parliament for basic research, which will be channelled through the European Research Council.
Horizon Europe has been provisionally applied since the beginning of 2021. In addition to advancing digitalisation, the programme aims to respond to other global challenges, including fight against climate change and tackling of the COVID-19 pandemic. Read more about Horizon Europe here.
