AI literacy should go beyond the ability to use existing tools. It should provide people with a critical understanding of the capabilities, limitations, risks, and broader implications of data and AI technologies, enabling them to move from being passive users to informed users capable of using these technologies responsibly. This is particularly important as AI becomes increasingly embedded in professional, organisational, and everyday decision-making. In order to achieve this, the following aspects have to be developed:
- Skills and human capital development, addressing both specialised technical expertise and the broader skills needed to work effectively with Data and AI
- Evolution of higher education and research training models addressing the rapidly changing needs of data and AI
