VI.3 Standardisation, scalability, and replicability

European data and AI solutions need to move beyond individual projects and deployments to achieve interoperability, scalability, and widespread adoption. Therefore, aspects like standardisation, common approaches, open and reusable solutions, and appropriate regulatory and compliance mechanisms can reduce fragmentation, facilitate reuse, and enable solutions developed in one context to be replicated across sectors and countries. Key areas include:

  • Interoperability and standardisation, as enablers for scalability, exploitation, sustainability and impact
  • Open-source and reusable technologies and components, reducing duplication and enabling wider adoption and collaboration
  • Scalable and replicable technologies, architectures, and ecosystem models, facilitating the transition from pilots to wider deployment
  • Common frameworks and reference approaches that reduce fragmentation and facilitate reuse
  • Comprehensive and stable regulation, supported by appropriate and proportionate compliance mechanisms that provide clarity without creating unnecessary barriers to innovation

How can we help?
