BDVA/DAIRO pushes forward the work on standardisation and interoperability at the AG44
April's Activity Group Meeting (AG44) focused on contributions from research and innovation projects and BDVA/DAIRO members to data and AI standardisation and interoperability activities. The event, organised in collaboration with BDV projects, gathered nearly 100 members, Big Data Value Project portfolio representatives and other key stakeholders to exchange views, experience and ideas.
The day kicked off with updates on ongoing activities and recent developments in the areas of interest. BDVA/DAIRO gave insight into future opportunities and upcoming sessions related to Horizon Europe and Digital Europe Programme. In this context TF7-SG6 (Smart Manufacturing Industry) announced an upcoming brokering event.
TF1.SG4 (i-Spaces) introduced the launch of the call for i-Spaces. This year, the call is combined with the EUHubs4Data project call for DIHs, as the BDVA/DAIRO i-Space label forms a foundation for the requirements of joining the federation of European digital innovation hubs.
TF9 (Skills & Education) is mapping skills gaps and other challenges SMEs face regarding digital competence. Have your say here! After the task force updates, new and existing members had an opportunity to introduce their latest contributions and interests to the rest of the attendees. GMV, Demos Helsinki, SMIT-Imec, Everis and DataVaults project took the stage to pitch during the morning plenary.
Before the afternoon's sessions started, BDVA/DAIRO Secretary-General provided an overview of the activities that the association is developing to support projects and members in (pre-)standardisation activities, including upcoming steps to develop input for the rolling plan for ICT standards 2022.
The rest of the day continued with two working sessions. TF6-SG6 (Standardisation), TF10 (Data Sharing Spaces), PPP projects, StandICT and InterConnect projects with BDVA/DAIRO members arranged a session on Data Space Reference Architecture Standards at ISO. OpenDEI, I4Trust, KRAKEN, SYNERGY and EUHubs4Data projects presented their approaches, mapping the necessary building blocks and interoperability needs for the reference architecture.
TF6-SG6 and MOSAICrOWN project facilitated the final workshop of the day, giving the stage to BDV and related projects to describe their approaches to Metadata Interoperability. Lynx, MOSAICrOWN, Examode, i3-Market, InterConnect and DataPorts took turns to introduce different solutions to how to achieve interoperability with a variety of data. The aim is to continue the efforts by collecting the use case presented and further develop the methods on the initiatives. Outcomes of these sessions will be further developed, and additional sessions are planned for the upcoming Data Week!
BDVA/DAIRO wants to thank everyone who contributed and participated in the AG44. Presentations and input collected are available on our intranet. The next meet up of the community is the Data Week, and an additional activity group meeting is foreseen to be held in June.
