Building on current European, cross-border, national and private initiatives, the Data4AI workshop focuses on identifying the main challenges ahead to develop the so-called European Data Space, essential for the development of AI, and to identify potential paths for the future. The Data4AI workshop is held on September 19 in Brussels and it is jointly organised by the European Commission (DG CNECT), the Big Data Value Association, and the euRobotics Association.
On September 12th 2018 BDVA organised its 28th Activity Group meeting attracting over 70 participants from BDVA members, the European Commission and other stakeholders. 6 different sessions were organised covering topics such as Industrial and Personal Data Platforms, Next Generation Data Platforms, Big Data and Energy, Big Data and Agriculture, Data Skils and Business models. The sessions were complemented with several pitching sessions, brokering and networking opportunities.

The BDVA i-Spaces group has launched the call for Data i-Spaces labelling 2018. This call is open to any Data Innovation Space that aims at driving forward Big Data adoption within European Industry. The BDVA i-Space label guarantees that the i-Space meets specific technical and organizational criteria, and is well recognized as a quality label at European level. EFFRA, ECSO and the European Commission's DG Connect will co-host a workshop (17 October 2018) centred on cybersecurity for manufacturing environments. The workshop will draw attention to the fundamental importance of cybersecurity challenges in manufacturing environments and where they are not yet fully recognised and addressed
IJCAI-ECAI 2018, the 27th International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence and the 23rd European Conference on Artificial Intelligence, is the premier international gathering of researchers in AI. IJCAI-ECAI-18 i takes place at Stockholmsmässan in Stockholm July 13-19. The BDVA President, Laure Le Bars, will be involved in the panel session "The Future of AI in Europe" that takes place on Wednesday July 18th.
