On Tuesday Dec 18th the European Commission released the draft of the Ethics guidelines for Trustworthy AI for the development and use of artificial intelligence produced by the High Level Expert Group on AI (HLEG on AI).
On November 12th 2018 and in the context of the European Big Data Value Forum 2018 the Big Data Value Association released and adopted a position paper on Artificial Intelligence (AI Position Paper) called Data-driven Artificial Intelligence for European Economic Competetiveness and Societal Progress. At the ICT conference in Vienna on 6 December 2018, the Big Data Value Association and the European Technology Platform for High Performace Computing (ETP4HPC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding. This MoU expresses the intention of ETP4HPC and BDVA to strengthen collaboration in the areas of Technology roadmap interaction, development of HPC usage for extreme data exploitation, and the democratisation of HPC for data intensive applications.
ETP4HPC and BDVA are interested in helping the ETP4HPC Partners and BDVA members to realise the benefits expected from the BDV PPP, HPC cPPP, and now EuroHPC JU programmes and to more efficiently exploit its results.
On January 23rd 2018 BDVA organises its 30th Activity Group with members in Brussels. During the day multiple plennary and parallel sessions will be organised covering the topics of Data Platforms, European Data Space (position paper), Big Data/AI in the Energy, Media, Smart Manufacturing, Telecom, Public adminstiraiotn and Agri-Food sectors, i-Spaces and Big Data Innovation Hubs and altorithm transparency.
In the context of the European Big Data Value Forum 2018 in Vienna, the BDVA Smart Manufacturing Industry subgroup organized a workshop to debate on “Data-driven Collaborative Intelligence in Smart Manufacturing and Robotics”.
The European Commission and the Big Data Value Association (BDVA) organised last November 7th a Digital Innovation Hubs (DIH) Working Group meeting on Big Data and AI in Brussels. This meeting focused on exploring how Digital Innovation Hubs can help boost the uptake of this technology by SMEs and contribute to the European data economy.
