IoT Week is a global event dedicated to IoT, organized annually since 2011. This year edition will take place at the Euskalduna Conference Centre in Bilbao, from June 4th to June 7th, 2018 gathering top experts, innovators and stakeholders in the Internet of Things. The event will explore new territories of such domain, including: Emerging IoT and development; IoT and Big Data; 5G convergence; IoT and Smart Cities; Artificial Intelligence and IoT; IoT Security and Data Protection; IoT Market and Business Model; Smart Farming and Food Security; IoT and advanced Manufacturing.
The European Commission launched a call for feedback to research and innovation stakeholders for collecting views on different aspects of future research and innovation missions. The results will feed into the preparatory work for the post-2020 EU R&I programme and its implementation.
The upcoming BDVA Activity Group Meeting will take place on the 15th of March in Brussels with some parallel sessions taking place already on the 14th of March co-located with the Board of Directors meeting. This activity group meeting will address several topics through different workshops in areas such as transparency in algorithms, data benchmarking, state beyond of the art in all Big Data technical priorities, IoT-Big Data technology integration, Data Spaces Smart Manufacturing Industries and AI.
The Big Data Value Education Hub is now accessible on line as part of the BDV PPP portal. The hub is a searchable online repository for knowing about European educational programmes targeted at and relevant to data scientists and data engineers. The Education Hub features key information about European Master programmes on Big Data and currently lists 165 courses across Europe.
“Masters of Digital 2018” took place in Brussels on the 20th of February 2018. It is the annual flagship event of DIGITALEUROPE, the leading trade association which represents the digital technology industry in Brussels and across Europe since 1999.
The 1st ITU Workshop on Data processing and Management for IoT and Smart Cities and Communities took place on the 19th of February 2018, in Brussels.
A new Working Group on Future Partnerships has been launched under the Digitising European Industry (DEI) initiative with the aim of reinforcing the role for the Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) as coordinators of EU-wide Research and Innovation efforts, national initiatives and industrial strategies. The goal is to explore how improving the synchronisation between public-private partnerships and national programmes to increase the impact of European Research and Innovation (R&I).
The Steering Committee of the BDV PPP met last 8th February, hosted by ATOS Brussels, and with the presence of the European Commission, the PPP projects and the BDVA.
