IDC together with Open Evidence is pleased announced the release of the beta version of EU Data Landscape map for public consultation. The EU Data Landscape aims to provide a summary representation of the main players in the EU data market, while at the same time defining better what is the EU data market, where are its boundaries and what services does it provide.
Public consultation for 'Standards in the Digital Single Market: setting priorities and ensuring delivery' is now open!
With this consultation, the Commission seeks input from stakeholders to achieve broad convergence around a set of priority standards in key technology areas sufficiently mature and critical to achieving the Digital Sigle Market (DSM) and time-tables for their development, which are sufficiently mature and critical to achieving the DSM.
Views are sought from national, regional and local authorities, European Standards Organisations and other standards development organisations, national regulators, industry associations, fora and consortia, corporations, SMEs and micro companies, civil society organisations, academia and citizens.
1. Cyber Physical Big Data Systems Session
The networking session on Cyber Physical Big Data Systems: Coming Together of Game-Changing Trends attracted over 100 participants. The session was jointly organized with the NESSI ETP and ARTEMIS-IA. It featured position presentations from each of the involved organizations and a lively panel discussion, during which panellists responded to stimulating questions from the audience. Presentations were given by ARTEMIS-IA Vice President Laila Gide from THALES, BDVA Vice President Ed Curry from INSIGHT, and NESSI Steering Committee Chair Colin Upstill (IT Innovation, University of Southampton).
Today we had a very insightful and playful session titled “Playing the Big Bata Game: competition and collaboration in ecosystems”. In this session, we played a game that was designed based on TNO research into the development of various Data Driven Innovations. A simplified version of reality was translated into a board game with cards, coins, a playing board, etcetera.
Three players (including two distinguished members of the BDVA) developed assets, identified data-driven innovations, collaborated and competed. In the meantime, it was explained to the audience what were the ideas behind the game, what was going on, and why the players behaved the way they did. All this added to the understanding of big data ecosystems. Unfortunately, there was no clear winner… this was also due to the fact that the session had to end because of time restrictions.
20.10.2015 Lisbon, Portugal
BDVA will participate in ICT event to be held in Lisbon from 20th to 22nd of October 2015. BDVA will be very active in Exhibition area and Networking sessions. A booth (PPPs4) in the EC Village in the Ground floor will be assisted by BDVA representatives to meet people willing to learn about BDVA or BDV PPP activities. Members will be able to organize some meetings on Big Data in the booth.
A Networking session will be organised to explain what is the Big Data Value PPP and the Big Data Value Association, how to join, which are the main instruments that will be used to implement the programme, which companies are already investing in Big Data, how to contribute to the process of updating the European Strategic Research & Innovation Agenda
