The 2018 Stakeholder Forum, the yearly public event co-organised by the EC and the Member States, will take place on March 27th and 28th 2018 at Villepinte – Parc des Expositions (France). Such second edition is co-organised with the French Ministry for Economic Affairs and Digital Technologies and will take place within the large 4-day Global Industrie 2018 trade fair.
As part of the European Commission's contribution to the Big Data Value Public Private Partnership (PPP), the EC has launched a new Horizon prize on Big Data Technologies.
EUR 2 million is available for improving the performance of software for the forecasting of geospatio-temporal data (collections of time-stamped records that are linked to a geospatial location) in terms of scalability, accuracy, speed and use of computational resources.
The prize is a reward for the three top ranking contestants who will present the best software solutions able to analyse extremely large collections of data.
The Earth Observation & Geospatial Subgroup working in the BDVA within the Task Force 7 – Applications has recently released a White Paper presenting the challenges faced and opportunities offered by the EO domain regarding the Big Data aspects. The Digital Opportunity Traineeship initiative will provide cross-border traineeships for up to 6.000 students and recent graduates between 2018 and 2020. The aim is to give students of all disciplines the opportunity to get hands on digital experience and ICT in fields demanded by the market.
