1. Cyber Physical Big Data Systems Session
The networking session on Cyber Physical Big Data Systems: Coming Together of Game-Changing Trends attracted over 100 participants. The session was jointly organized with the NESSI ETP and ARTEMIS-IA. It featured position presentations from each of the involved organizations and a lively panel discussion, during which panellists responded to stimulating questions from the audience. Presentations were given by ARTEMIS-IA Vice President Laila Gide from THALES, BDVA Vice President Ed Curry from INSIGHT, and NESSI Steering Committee Chair Colin Upstill (IT Innovation, University of Southampton).
1. Cyber Physical Big Data Systems Session
Today we had a very insightful and playful session titled “Playing the Big Bata Game: competition and collaboration in ecosystems”. In this session, we played a game that was designed based on TNO research into the development of various Data Driven Innovations. A simplified version of reality was translated into a board game with cards, coins, a playing board, etcetera.
Three players (including two distinguished members of the BDVA) developed assets, identified data-driven innovations, collaborated and competed. In the meantime, it was explained to the audience what were the ideas behind the game, what was going on, and why the players behaved the way they did. All this added to the understanding of big data ecosystems. Unfortunately, there was no clear winner… this was also due to the fact that the session had to end because of time restrictions.

IDC together with Open Evidence is pleased to announce the release of the beta version of EU Data Landscape map for public consultation. The EU Data Landscape aims to provide a summary representation of the main players in the EU data market, while at the same time defining better what is the EU data market, where are its boundaries and what services does it provide.
Help us create the best picture of European Data Market by adding your comments directly on the map!
Are all the key players represented? Are they placed in the right segment?

22nd September, 14:00 CEST - Webinar: The Big Data Value PPP: state of the art and next steps.
The Big Data Value Association and the European Data Market study are collaborating in dissemination activities around the European data economy. One of the first actions was a webinar where Stuart Campbell, the BDVA Secretary General, presented (see below) the current status of Big Data Value PPP, the next steps, and how to be involved.
The objective of this survey is to engage with the wider BDVA community to ensure a comprehensive perspective concerning the technical and business impact of the SRIA technical and non-technical priorities as well as to identify emerging priorities with high impact for the European big data economy.
On 10th August 2015, Dr. Andreas Metzger (paluno) represented the BDVA at the SME event "wissensoffensive 2015". In the opening panel on "Digitization and Big Data", Dr. Metzger discussed opportunities and risks of Big Data jointly with Brigitte Zypries (Parliamentary State Secretary of the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy) and Mirja-Hannele Ahokas (German Representation of the European Commission).
