The Big Data Value Association held its General Assembly on November 14th 2018, in Vienna, in the context of the European Big Data Value Forum event. As part of the meeting, the BDVA members were called to elect over two-thirds of the members of its Board of Directors, and to elect a President and one Vice-President.
The BDVA i-Spaces group organized, in the context of the European Big Data Value Forum 2018 (Vienna, 14th November) the workshop “Shaping the European Big Data landscape: from i-Spaces and Centres of Excellence to Big Data Digital Innovation Hubs”.

The European Commission is looking for 30 Digital Innovation Hubs in the field of Artificial Intelligence, to offer them a training programme, establish a network, and provide evidence for the preparation of relevant European policies
On the 14th of November 2018, the BDVA General Assembly officially welcomed 16 new members, among which there are 8 Full Members and 8 Associate Members. 5 members are Industry-SMEs. New members come from 11 different countries: Austria, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Romania, Spain, Switzerland, UK.
The labelled i-Spaces of 2018 have been announced at the European Big Data Value Forum 2018 in Vienna. BDVA congratulates all the labelled i-Spaces, and looks forward a fruitful collaboration to keep developing an European data and AI based innovation ecosystem.
The Big Data Value Association, with the support of the BDVe project, has organized the first workshop on “Software Architecture Challenges in Big Data”, as part of the European Conference of Software Architecture, held on 24-28 September 2018 at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Spain. The objective of this workshop was to explore the challenges that Big Data and other related technologies such as IoT, cloud computing, HPC and Artificial Intelligence pose to current and future software architectures.
On 8th November ITAINNOVA organizes in Zaragoza (Spain) an event focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Public Administration. The usage and application of Big Data and AI applications in public administration have plenty of possibilities.
