BDVA Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda

BDVA announces the official publication of its Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) version 4 .

The agenda defines the overall goals, main technical and non-technical priorities, and a research and innovation roadmap for the European Public Private Partnership (PPP) on Big Data Value. The SRIA explains the strategic importance of Big Data, describes the data value chain and the central role of ecosystems, details a vision for Big Data Value in Europe in 2020, and sets out the objectives and goals to be accomplished by the PPP within the European research and innovation landscape of Horizon 2020 (H2020) and at both national and regional levels.

Trans-Atlantic Workshop on Public Private Partnerships for Big Data Research & Innovation and Workforce Development

The NSF Big Data innovation Hubs organises an interactive workshop titled "Trans-Atlantic Symposium on Public Private Partnerships for Big Data Research and Innovation and Workforce Development on November 19-20, 2017 in Versailles. 

This workshop is being held in conjunction with the European Big Data Value Forum 2017, Big Data Value Association, PICASSO Project and INRIA. 
The main aim of the workshop is to bring together academic and industry actors from United States (US) and the European Union (EU) to discuss about the Big Data Science Research and Innovation ongoing efforts.

AEGIS project in ECIS 2018 conference

 

AEGIS project (http://www.aegis-bigdata.eu/) is supporting the organization and dissemination of Track 30 in ECIS 2018 conference (http://ecis2018.eu/) about Big Data for Public Safety and Personal Security Applications. AEGIS EC H2020 Innovation Action, aims at creating an interlinked “Public Safety and Personal Security” Data Value Chain, and at delivering a novel platform for big data curation, integration, analysis and intelligence sharing.

European companies' data sharing

With the objective of assessing the economic value and potential of data sharing between companies in Europe, and to understand the success factors of data sharing between economic operators, the European Commission has launched a survey to gather information from companies that are either sharing data or re-using data.

This survey is part of the first comprehensive study that has ever been carried out in Europe to ascertain the economic and innovation potential of data sharing. The survey is available on https://ec.europa.eu/eusurvey/runner/DataSharingEurope// in different languages, and will be open until November 30.

Your involvement and participation in this survey is very important for the European
Commission, so that reliable can be conclusions can be drawn from a representative sample.

Mid-term review of the contractual Public Private Partnerships (cPPPs) under Horizon 2020

The 29th of September the European Commission published the mid-term review report concerning the Contractual Public private Partnerships (cPPP) under Horizon 2020 funding programme. Big Data Value is one of the ten cPPPs agreed. 

The cPPP instrument was designed to implement actions and strategies to increase the competitiveness impact of European R&D funding via Horizon 2020, offering a more active role to industry in the management of the instrument and promoting higher technology readiness level (TRLs) of the projects.

The report contains six main recommendations on how to improve this instrument further in the short and long term perspectives. 

The evaluation has been performed along five main dimensions defined in Terms of References: Efficiency, Relevance, Coherence, Effectiveness and EU Value Added.

BDVA’s response to the EC’s public consultation on Health and Care in the DSM

In order to promote digital innovation in health and care for the benefits of citizens and health systems in Europe, the European Commission launched a public consultation on Health and Care in the Digital Single Market. The BDVA TF7-Healthcare members provided a collective answer on these three pillars. Public consultation on the review of the directive on the re-use of Public Sector Information (PSI Directive)

The European Commission has launched a public consultation in order to review the Directive on the re-use of public sector information (PSI Directive), fulfilling the periodic review obligation contained in its article 13, and at the same time furthering the goals of the Digital Market Strategy in the field of data economy. 

The consultation will be open until the 12th of December and it is targeted to all interested parties, including governments, public sector content holders and users, commercial and non-commercial re-users, experts and academics as well as citizens.
